about introducing a still of the video within the edit

How do I do this, everytime i try to create a still from a fragment, the next part of the film is erased? What do I do wrong? Please Help!!

Found it: I just reload the fragment again from the database and cut the overlap away. It works and I am still open top better suggestions, but for now I can move on
