In the arid desert of Atacama (Chile) there is an imposing sculpture (11 meters high) which is the work of the sculptor Mario Irarrázabal, made in 1992. La Mano del Desierto "is the connection between man and the universe" , as definited by the chilean author . However, according to the artist Irarrázabal, every visitor to the "Mano del Desierto" can give his own interpretation of the meaning of this sculpture.
