Interpretation of Prelude 2 by G. Gershwin- (GG-piano)
analysis of the pièce:
The prelude 2 , has a strong sense of jazz. The play begins with a sad melody venturing over a continuous bass. The harmonies and melodies of this piece are built on thirds, thus increasing the effect of the seventh and the major / minor duality of the blues range. In the second part, the tone, the tempo, and the thematic material change. This complete section can even be played with inverted hands. The first melody and the bass return in the last section, and the piece ends on a slow, very gentle rise.
