I present you the master of the melody!
The works of the French composer Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) are distinguished by the delicacy of their melody and the balance of their composition. His Pavane is a telling example of the Faurian message to musical purity, emphasizing the importance of harmony and not the power of orchestration, unlike most of his contemporaries such as Wagner, Debussy or Stravinsky. . I interpret the piano version, without the choral part that Fauré added at the request of Countess Elisabeth Greffuhle to whom the work is dedicated.
(piano version, played on a Steinway B-211)
