El Puerto (Cádiz) (1905), by Isaac Albéniz (1860 - 1909) .
The Iberia suite is a suite for solo piano composed between 1906 and 1909 by Isaac Albéniz (1860 - 1909) and is undoubtedly the author's most important work. It is one of the most famous compositions of twentieth century music and of all times and represents the culmination of the piano difficulty and its full duration is more than an hour and a half.
Notebook I of the Iberia Suite was composed in 1906 and presented in 1907, played for the first time by Blanche Selva. It is dedicated to Mme. Ernest Chausson. The three works in this booklet are Evocación (Prélude in the first edition), El Puerto ,(that I play here, which refers to the Port of Santa María in Cádiz) and Corpus Christi in Seville (important Sevillian festivity). The Port is the shortest work of the suite; has the rhythm of the zapateado dance
