I remember having been very impressed and shocked by the drawning of the Russian submarine Kursk, more than 20 years ago. The long agony of her sailors, -realizing the needed assistance would most likely come too late-, came as a source of inspiration for my newly composed rock.
Спасите Курск (Save the Kursk)
I am the cook on the Kursk,
Dsus D/C
A mighty sub of ours,
Dsus/B
Built to restore our pride
Dsus/Bb
On all the seas worldwide.

But today, from the bow,
I heard a dreadful blow,
Then all the lights turned off
Why those horrific cries ?
D/A
Many comrades are sure dead
A G
No time to lose, let’s call for help
A G
Спасите наc
D Eb7/D
Спасите Курск

And the Admiralty
Along the river Neva
Must have heard the bang,
Why do they take so long ?
Mother Russia will help,
She cares for her children
We’ll soon see light again.
Нет прощальный, nor Adieu.
Hurry friends, water is rising fast.
Soon it’ll be too late, it’s a matter of time.
Спасите нас
Спасите Курск
Solo
Спасите нас
Спасите Курск
The hours are passing
And no sign from the top
Should this be our coffin
I’m losing all my hopes.
Now I can hear gunshots
From the officers’ room.
And the air is so hot
While water freezes my foot
So long, friends, the dice is cast.
Спасите нас
Спасите Курск
So long, friends, the time is out.
Спасите нас
Спасите Курск
Спасите нас
Спасите Курск…
