Thanks for the reply browj2. Standard (2D) is properly checked on the dropdown menu. I have only seen Mov files from my iPhone affected by this anomaly. Samsung Galaxy S21, Canon and Sony camera video files do not have by this anomaly.

I assume 'negative image' means the colours are reversed is this correct or do you mean the image is very washed out to be almost black/white?

A screen shot of the Preview monitor showing the 'negative image' would help so we can see what you are seeing.

Would this be an iPhone 12 and did you record in HDR?

iPhone XS video set to HD 720P at 30 frames per second and smart HDR is on. The first photo is video on the PC and the second photo is video on the laptop the way the video should look.

I tried an iPhone video file with smart HDR turned off and it made no difference in MEP, it was still bad.

This is what the Mov video look like as it is played in MEP.

From the video clip, which appears to be showing the preview image building up to what it should look like, and assuming this is 4K video from the iPhone XS, it looks like the AMD RX490 is struggling to render the preview when using HDR video.

Does the true image appear within a few seconds?

There may be another issue as well with the source video.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse the iPhone video clip shown in your video above and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip.

Thanks for the reply John. The Mov file is 1280 X 720 at 30 fps and I'll include the file for you to view. I haven't yet had time to analyze the file as you have requested due to Thanksgiving holiday activities. Hopefully, you can gain some information from the Mov file that I provide.

Unfortunately a file has to be downloadable from a file sharing site like Dropbox or Google drive as posting to a hosting site already alters the file making any file data we can extract wrong.

We need a direct download link from such a file sharing cloud option.

The range from minimum to maximum is not particularly large that I would expect to cause what you are seeing, however combining this with the Radeon RX480 being towards the bottom end of the system requirements for MEP 2022, it may be enough to show the preview rendering issue seen.

Try using a video converter eg Handbrake to convert the video to Constant framerate and see if this fixes the issue.

If you use Handbrake select the Fast 720p30 preset and change to the setting shown below on the Video tab - this will also put the video into a mp4 file format.

The above is the mp4 file that Handbrake made, but it still doesn't play correctly in MEP. I'll make video of how the Handbrake mp4 file plays. and post it here.

I see from your last video clip, the file extension of the clip on the timeline is an M4V file not MP4 as should have been outputted from Handbrake with the settings I gave you - is there a reason for this?

I think the Constant frame rate box should be ticked, not the peak frame rate.

Included here is the Handbrake mp4 video being played in MEP and as you can see it still isn't playing correctly.
