Hi,

There is not much difference. This topic has been covered several times here and under Forums....MEP, but they are old, so you have to look at messages from late last year.

Also, review the new features at the following link:

http://www.magix.com/ca/movie-edit-pro/premium/innovations/

I don't suggest getting the regular version, only Plus or Premium. The current sale is interesting, but is for the regular version. I suggest that you wait for the next version to see what Magix is offering.

Hi,

I agree with John.  Magix seems to release the new version in September or October so at this point, I too am waiting to see what the new offer is with the new version.  I too would lean towards the Plus or Premium versions.  Premium especially because there is usually additional software included that costs a lot more to buy as a seperate product.

Good Luck

George

Hi

. . . .There is not much difference. . . . I agree with John. . . .

Sorry guys there is a very important difference, especially for those with lower spec computers or require absolutely smooth preview playback when editting HD video and that is Proxy Editting.

With turned on - it is turned on per project ie not a global setting - as you load HD video it creates a proxy file, which has reduced resolution and does not require so much processor power for playback.

The proxy file is used for display (preview) purposes only.  When you come to export or create a disc (DVD or BD) the original files are used.

I agree with Georges comment re versions but take it one step further and say get the Premium version.

John

John, that seems like a good point. can you please tell me how to turn on proxy editing within a project. Because I do experience all the symthoms you mention such as slow playback, even freezing up. This proxy playback might be a very good thing.

Thank you

Hello John,

I tried what you suggested, but I do not have the option for proxy setting? I am running Movie edit pro 2014, here is a picture of my screen when I go to where you mentioned.

Try visiting the obvious place for this sort of information: the Magix website.

http://www.magix.com/gb/movie-edit-pro/

As you see, Proxy Editing is only available in tne Plus and Premium versions of MEP 2014.
