Program freezes after dragging music

I just purchased your Magix Edit Pro Premium last night from your website. The program consistently freezes up as soon as I attempt to drag a music file onto it. The music files are from my own computer. I am using Windows 10. The computer is an HP desk top, brand new. The processor is an intel i7 6700. RAM is 16 GB. 64-bit operating system. How can I drag music files onto my movie without it freezing up?

I figured out what the problem was. I was importing the music files from an external hard drive and when I did this the program would freeze. However, I copied the music files over into the computer's HD and then tried it and there was no problem...no freezing. I don't know why the program won't accept them off my external HD because I have used Magix editing programs before doing this without a problem. Anyways, works fine now.

Hi Joe,

Importing from a connected HD should work. You may have trouble if you are using a USB memory stick.

Did you update to the latest patch? Did you download and install the extra content? If you are new Movie Edit Pro, you should watch my tutorial on Getting Started under the Tutorials tab.

Hi

. . . . I don't know why the program won't accept them off my external HD . . . .

It is possible that it is the Windows USB port power management settings are set aggressively and the USB device is being turned off immediately after accessing the file.

I would not recommend use external USB connected drives as sources for files to be imported into MEP - USB power management turning off the USB ports/device can cause problems. However if you must then ensure that Windows does not turn the USB ports off - this you will find in the Power Management profile settings.

I always copy project backups and files from my USB backup drives back to the hard drive when I want to work with them.

Anyways, the problem is solved. It was because the files were being dragged off an external HD. I copied my music files into my PC and now there is no problem. Works great. Nice features in this Premium version.
