FIle Format Cannot Be Read

Zentron escrito el 28.08.PM a las 23:34 horas

Presently 'still' using MEP 2016 Plus VN#15.0.0.107 and I seem to be having some issues with my image layers disappearing. Initially, the image layers are visible and there's nothing wrong, but then on playback, they're good for just under 1min, then they just disappear and if I try to reload the same image/s, I get the notification that "The file format of xxxxxxx cannot be read! Please make sure drive is not full or drive write-protected." Obviously as the file was perfectly fine to be read not more than a few moments ago, it should still be available to the program, also the drive has almost 670GB of space left, that doesn't sound right either! The images also don't appear on the exported file too!

So the images I am using are .tif image files, I've been using .tif image files on several other projects for over a year on this version of MEP, and for the last several previous editions of the MEP program, so I shouldn't be having any issues now... but I just am!

If anyone can offer a suggestion as to what to do, what might be wrong, or a patch to get, I'd be very greatful!

Hi,

I suggest you make a small, non-confidential project exhibiting the problem and use File > Backup copy > Copy project and media into a folder, zip it up and upload it to a host site (I use Dropbox for instance). We can then try to reproduce it.

I have the same problem when I import .X3D titles on Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus.  I have MEP 17 installed on same computer, and it works as it should.  This is the error I get with MEP 2013.

Hi

@Zentron

. . . . I get the notification that "The file format of xxxxxxx cannot be read! Please make sure drive is not full or drive write-protected." Obviously as the file was perfectly fine to be read not more than a few moments ago, it should still be available to the program . . . .

The error message would indicate that the files are no longer available to the program. This could be caused by:

  1. the files being on an external storage media eg memory card or camera which has been removed or powered down.
  2. a USB external hard drive, which has been powered down by the Windows power settings.
  3. the files are on a second internal hard drive which has 'disappeared' - I have had this occur with Windows 10 1703.

Version 15.0.0.104 is the last updated version of MEP 2016. There is a patch 15.0.0.114 however this only adds in Magix Connect - it does not fix any issues with MEP.

Have you tried restarting the computer - Windows button, Power, Restart - not shutdown.

Thanks for the reply, the answer those possibilities is as thus:

1. Not on an external storage media

2. Not on an USB external HD

3. Yes, the files are on a second internal HD, but other images from the same HD and even same folder, just not same file type, are still available and load A-OK

I have tried restarting the computer, it fixes the problem only for a few moments, then, back to same issue, image disappears and cannot reload the image back onto the timeline, or even preview it :(

It is just very confusing, also to update, I am now running MEP Premium... still same issue :( :(

Hi

. . . . but other images from the same HD and even same folder, just not same file type, are still available and load A-OK . . . .

So the problem is just with any tiff file?

Copy the tiff files to a new folder and then use Windows Photo Viewer to view them - do you get any error messages when you cycle through the image files using the Next/Previous buttons you may need to view them several times?

If you get an error message eg 'Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because either Photo Viewer doesn't support this file format, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Viewer' then do steps 3 to 11 in this tutorial

They work fine like that, they work fine everywhere else, they just vanish from MEP and won't reload once they have.

Hi

I have tried to replicate this issue, however there is no way I can get the images to 'disappear'.

Can you do as Terry requested above so we can test a project with your images.

Thanks
