Sound Forge Pro (12>15) recording will Stop with the keyboard Space bar and Pause/Resume with Enter key.. assuming the default has not been changed (Space/Enter behavior is the same in playback). I would also assume AS (Audio Studio) to be the same, but I do not know this for sure. Maybe someone with AS can verify the Record Stop/Pause behavior.

Hi, rraud. How are you? The space bar pauses recording instead of stopping. And if i press the space bar again, the recording will start over from the recording already made. Sound Forge Pro 15.

rraud schrieb am 11.03.2021 um 17:40 Uhr

@john_barr, there is a setting to reverse the Spacebar/Pause behavior. Go to "Options> Preferences> General" and change "Spacebar and F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop" (Spacebar=Stop is the default). This also affects the recording behavior. SF must be restarted after changing the setting.

john_barr schrieb am 11.03.2021 um 18:34 Uhr

I did as you said, but it remains the same. The space bar stops playback, but does not stop recording.

rraud schrieb am 11.03.2021 um 19:03 Uhr

No, it It does not exit the record mode. It is not logical fo' sure. Does 'Pause' stop at the cursor and resume in Playback or Record? Check the "View> Record Options" settings as well.

john_barr schrieb am 11.03.2021 um 19:31 Uhr

In playback mode, the space bar plays and stops. In recording mode, the space bar starts recording and if i click the space bar again, recording is paused.

@john_barr Yes, you must disarm the track with Ctrl+Shift+A or else the spacebar will start the recording.

john_barr schrieb am 11.03.2021 um 20:45 Uhr

There should be a keyboard shortcut to stop recording, without using the mouse. In older versions (6.0, 7.0), the space bar stopped recording.

SP. schrieb am 11.03.2021 um 20:56 Uhr

@john_barr For me the spacebar also stops recording but if I press it again the recordings starts again from the beginning. That is why the track must be disarmed first.

I appreciate if someone reports this issue to Magix support.

rraud schrieb am 11.03.2021 um 22:27 Uhr

In SFP-10 (and prior I assume), either the Spacebar or the Enter key pause and resume recording , but SCS (Sony) changed it in Pro 11 and the illogical behavior carried over to subsequent versions. Myself and many of the other beta testers objected to these changes,

Any possibility of Sound Forge coming back as it was before?

Probably not .. but Magix just brought back the remote record option which was eliminated in Pro-11, along with the better functioning and intuitive plug-in chainer.

john_barr schrieb am 12.03.2021 um 19:02 Uhr

It would be welcome if Magix created new shortcuts to start and stop recording.

Hello @john_barr In Options > Preferences > General: Here is the option "Rewind cursor position after recording". Uncheck this please and test, whether you are getting the old behavior. Sorry for the late response and the inconvenience.

rraud schrieb am 15.09.2021 um 20:54 Uhr

Hi @Product-Owner_OOO_, on my Win 10 PC with SFP-15 (build 64). There is no 'Rewind cursor position after recording" option. The last entry in the "Options> Preferences> General" checklist is "Send Analysis to Magix" (same on the x86 version).

Product-Owner_OOO_ schrieb am 15.09.2021 um 21:19 Uhr

hey @rraud I see, well this option will be avail. in the next update. sorry. i think, the bug here is, that it always jumps back to the armed state, even when this state was not used beforehand. "space" should stop recording. "enter" pauses recording. "esc" stops recording. at least that's how it is in my (unreleased) build. In prefs you can also set SPACE = PAUSE but default should be STOP. I' ll check back with the team - this looks like a bug to me because "space" should stop recording.

One last thing: it might be well the case, that a keycommand is missing here: if you would set SPACE up like shown, would it then stop recording, as you would expect it?

@Product-Owner_OOO_
I have tested it in SF 14 pro and it works for me.
Thanks!!!
