I recently upgraded to Video Pro X. I can't figure out how to load a .cube lookup table file. I thought the load option was at the bottom of the "video effects" - "brightness contrast" panel. Any help would be appreciated. -Doug
There was a Load option until the last big update.
To get round the problem, as minimum drop the cube into
C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Video Pro X\8\VideoEffects\LUTPresets\LUTEffect
and restart VPX - it should be picked it up and appear the effect section along with the current LUTs.
For completeness take a screen shot of the affect applied, crop to show the image only and resize to 128 x 72 or 64 x 36 pixels, save as a jpg and drop this into the icons folder in the above file path using the same name as the cube.
An entry in the Translation.ini file in the same folder as the cube should not be necessary unless you want a different name displayed under its icon. If you do, open the ini file in Notepad and add an entry at the bottom following the same format as the others in the ini file.
Note the LUT must be a 3D cube - 1D cubes do not work.
There is a tutorial type video on YouTube and on the Magix.com site showing how to use LUTs. Scroll down the page until you see the video image with the text beside it "More post-production freedom: Lookup tables."
I too am trying to add cube files to Magix. In my folder path, after ...Video Pro X\8, there is no \VideoEffects folder. Only \VideoScopes and \VidOutEng. I have tried searching for lut, lookup, and *.cube files with no results. I am totally stymied. I just used Photoshop and a LUT Generator to build lut tables to match 3 of my cameras to a fourth one. It's very frustrating to not be able to use them now.
After more searching I found the Lut folder here: C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Video Pro X\8\ImageProcessingPlugins\LUT3D. There are only 3 files, 2 of which have .hlo extensions. I am still confused.
Assuming you have downloaded and installed all the extras for VPX, the folder you have found is not the correct location, my camera LUTS are located in the LUTCamera folder as shown in the image below
Up one level from this folder there is also a folder for LUTEffect which contains
Copy the LUT into the UserVideoEffects folder Default path "C: \ ProgramData \ MAGIX \ Video Pro X \ 8 \ UserVideoEffects" I copied all of LUT there and they work correctly.
Thank you for your response. A little while after I posted this, I did find that I had been searching in the wrong folder, IE programs rather than program data. The profiles that I added are now available and are working.
