Text justification in Movie Edit Pro?

javier-g31 wrote on 7/17/2016, 2:46 PM

Do we have any way to type Justified text in Movie Edit Pro? Justified text is when the text is made a block, aligned in both sides, left and right, making a column, like in newspapers. For example, this text, is a justified text.

And this text, is not justified, this is aligned to the left side.

How can we add justified text to a movie? I don't see in the options anything about justification?

Cheers

Hi

. . . . How can we add justified text to a movie? . . . .

This would be a nice feature to have and has been raised before - however currently you can not do this, in MEP it is left, centred or right aligned only.

The only possible way to do this would be to use an image created in an image editting program, with the text on a black or white background, and apply Chroma key white or black so the text overlays the video.

You could also animate the image to scroll up.

John, Javier,

Could it not be done by using the 'limit to TV area' feature, temporarily adjusting the top and side borders appropriately? I'm not at my PC or I'd test it.

--------------------

Edit: I have tested it now and, of course, it doesn't work. The Title Editor's Left/Centre/Right option prevails.

That was also the case when I optimistically tried justifying it in Word and pasting it in.

So, John, your image conversion looks the only way.

Edit: Crossed in the post with your similar post John!

P.S: It's about 08:42 here, so how do I interpret your timestamp of 09:33?

Hi

AFAICS this would not work - justified text depends on the text editor adjusting the spacing width between words to achieve flush left and right edges to the sentences.

Terry, not JohnEB but I think that time "difference" is because this forum runs on German (?Central European?) time.

Hi Terry, Jeff

This is one of the issues when you modify a post after it has been answered - see below

As you can see this throws the post order as the original post date / time is not changed.

My answer was at 08:33 UK time.

Cheers

Hi everyone, and thanks for the replies.

I hope in 2017 version, we finally see Justification as a feature. Of course you can use Adobe Illustrator, create a justified text and export it as PNG without any background, and use it in Movie Edit Pro 2016 as a picture... but... it is painful. If you have to do this, all the time with all the titles... you suffer a lot.

Is strange Camtasia, don't allow Justified text.

SONY VEGAS don't allow Justified text.

MAGIX Movie Edit Pro don't allow justified text...

Is like if all makers decided together do not allow justified text. Why?

I have a Youtube channel with 2.300.000 views, I upload many different kind of videos, and many of them attach long explanation texts. Displaying a text without justification is UGLY, very UGLY. You need to see the paragraph, well formatted...

Actually you have to use external plugins, for example for VEGAS Pro Dad Hyeroglyph allow text justification...

I really hope, in 2017 we can see this feature attached in Movie Edit Pro. I think this is urgent.

Cheers

Hi all,

This is another case for having the new Xara Photo & Graphics Designer or Xara Designer Pro X. A text box is easily made in Xara, fully justified, and brought back into MEP. Here is a quick result.

Anyone want to see how to do this?

I answered my own question. Here is how to go into Xara from MEP, create a fully justified text box, give it a rectangle to add some contrast, and bring it back into MEP. This can be animated of course, similar to the other video, including the text, all in Xara animation.

Note that the Xara animation object can be copied and used multiple times.

@Terry,

Here is the Dropbox link to the how to justify text video. The one embedded in the message shows up fine on my old computer. Must be your fancy new machine.

Here a couple more examples of using Xara with MEP:

- Moving, reshaping object

- Text on a line

Hi John,

I deleted my post about half an hour ago, hoping you wouldn't be up yet

It turned out that the Adobe Flash plugin had not been installed in Firefox. I'd assumed all 'necessary' stuff was in there. Now that I've manually installed it, all is well, thanks.

I often seem to come across comments online that Flash has outstayed its welcome due to security issues, but presumably it's essential on this magix.info site?
