Magix Video Pro X5 FREEZES On Launch After Installation

exetreezz wrote on 12/30/2013, 1:28 PM

Hi everybody!

I downloaded MAGIX Video Pro X5 and I installed as a trial for 7 days!

After the installation finish without any errors of any kind, everytime I open (launch) the program, everytime it freezes and it's not opening at all, no matter what I do! I can't even minimize or close the program by it's own buttons...I have to close it trough the Task Manager!

I did it for many times, I reinstall it so many times, and everytime I have the same result:

Magix Video Pro X5 FREEZES on launch (opening), and it's hanging with this bottom message during the startup: "Initializing program layout"!

What should I do?! It's very, very annoying this issue, and I really want to try it!!

I try with the antivirus ON and OFF, I try to put it to the antivirus exceptions, as well....and no matter what I do, I get the same result: freeze at startup!

ISSUE SOLVED !!! Read the next reply of my own! There's the answer!

SOLVED !!!

By luck, I search into the Downloads section (where patches and upgrades are), here on Magix website, and searching through the few softwares, to see what they have for us, I choose to download a very small program called "WinOpti 1.0.0.0"! After that I installed this program (requires a restart), and when I logged on to my laptop again, I clicked on my desktop "Magix Video Pro X5" icon and the program started without any errors or freezing or hangging freeze!

Everything is working like a charm now !!!

I have the same issue with the german version. WinOpti did not work in my case.

Instead I removed/renamed C:\Program Files (x86)\MAGIX\Video deluxe 2014 Premium\Online\MagixOfa.exe

It works, but still don't know why ...

This worked for me too!!! Somehow maybe the program wants to get something from a server and while there is no response it just stops...

Hi

@robert-bhm

Please note the original post is nearly 4 years old.

. . . . Somehow maybe the program wants to get something from a server and while there is no response it just stops . . .

It does - the news, however this can be turned off by checking the option in the program settings to Hide news, and this should fix the problem without the need to rename the MagixOfa.exe.

However if you are running an old version of VPX eg the same as the OP and you have Windows 10 in which case there could be a compatibility issue, if a later version then please create a new post giving more detail- see this post.

hey johne,

ya i noticed that. I bought video deluxe premium 2 days ago and the freez occurred right in the first startup and continued. After a short google i landed here. I dont even came to access the options in there. The program is installed on a state of the art machine with a nearly fresh win10.

wondering why this still happens after 4 years like u said. Maybe the failure doesn't happend to much ppl and din´t reached the buglist.

thanks for y reply mate.

Hi

What is the computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?

Which version of Windows 10 is installed?

. . . . wondering why this still happens after 4 years like u said . . . .

It may not be - open Internet Explorer (not Edge) and ensure the following protocols are checked in the Internet options

Hi,

After installing Windows 10 and doing all windows updates, I installed the MAGIX Video deluxe Plus Version 16.0.1.22 which I downloaded from the MAGIX website. The Program starts, but when I close the first project select window by selecting a project, creating a project or just closing the window, the program freezes.

In order to solve the problem, I had to rename the file "MagixOfa_x64.exe", like described above.

I also checked the Internet Explorer options as shown in the image in an previous post. However, that did not solve the problem.
