Startup warnings Update Notifier

bobthevideoman wrote on 9/6/2020, 1:48 AM

On computer start up I get two warnings

1st one is-

https://services2.simplitec./com autoupdate/api?program=mx_netsync&program_version=3.0.57&program_language

2nd one is-

Qnetworkreply: network error (Timeout Error)

I have found in task manager details = QMxNetworkSync.exe this says it is Running but UAC is disabled

I do not need the Update Notifier can I remove it without effecting VideoProX ?

@bobthevideoman

Hi

. . . . 'https://services2.simplitec./com autoupdate/api?program=mx_netsync&program_version=3.0.57&program_language' . . . .

Did you install Simpliclean as well as VPX?

. . . . I do not need the Update Notifier can I remove it without effecting VideoProX . . . .

Yes you can uninstall, it does not affect VPX.

Thanks very much John

I did not intentionally install Simply clean, don't know where it came from, unless maybe it is part of CCleaner ?

Also, it does not appear in Apps & Features so I cant find it.

I shall uninstall Update Notifier anyway and see how it goes.

Thanks again

Bob

I have deleted Notifier Update and both warnings have gone. Still have no idea what "Simpliclean" is though.

Many thanks

Bob

I tracked this issue to Soundforge Studio 14 that came with my video editor software. That is where this updater lived. Today was the first time I received the error, so it appears it's a server issue on the MAGIX end. I uninstalled the Soundforge Studios software, but the updater did NOT uninstall and I use Revo Pro as my uninstaller. Two other little caveats I noticed, too... first, when this appeared, I noticed I also didn't have a network connection, and I'm connected to my switch via ethernet. It would eventually connect to the network after a few minutes. Second, I checked my services and found that the updater service was disabled, but also running. Very strange. I found and killed the updater service, then just deleted the MAGIX Services folder. After all that, I still have no connection at all now. I ran the network troubleshooter, uninstalled the ethernet adapter and reinstalled, still nothing. I then rebooted my ATT RG and both switches related to the machine in question, and it's finally working. Strangest thing yet was the fact that there are two other machines on these switches that were unaffected. Still, at this point, the ethernet adapter properties tell me that it is on an "unidentified network." Good luck!

@Jim-Brooks

Hi and welcome to the forum

Did you not notice this topic is nearly 4 months old and the OP's issue was resolved back in June.

As for the issues you had:

. . . . the updater did NOT uninstall . . . .

It is a separate program with its own uninstaller.

. . . . when this appeared, I noticed I also didn't have a network connection . . .  I still have no connection at all now . . .

Did you have Firefox running at the time - if so this is known for hogging the internet connection and causing occasional freezes - this is why I switched to Opera.
