Dvd burner - I have successfully burned several copies of slideshows. I recently went back and made a few changes. then I tried to burn it and it was unsuccessful. Now each time the whole thing crashes?

I was so frustrated I opened photo shop to do another slideshow and it would not let me burn it either. What has happened.

Did you try re-booting your system? It sounds like something is hung on your computer.

It just seems really odd that you can't burn in either Slide Show Maker or PhotoShop. Are you sure your DVD-R drive is working? Can you burn any other file since this has happened? If yes, the file you are trying to burn may be corrupt or not have the right CODECS.

I can burn cd's? If its not coded right what happened? It burned last week? Just not this week? It's as if something is blocking the burning effort. I tried again last night it goes thru all the motions, says it burned successfully and then when I take it out there is nothing it's blank.

Memorex. The burned ones are memorex and the ones that won't burn are memorex. :(

There has to be an answer! I worked so hard to make a fabulous dvd slideshow. I have to get it out!

Has MEP actually encoded the DVD? To check, navigate to the folder of DVD files in the location specified in Program Settings > Folder > Disc images. Is the DVD there? Can you play it, e.g with VLC, PowerDVD, etc?

If so, then do as I do and burn with a different program. I've never had reliable burning using MEP over the years (MEP11 to MEP MX). I don't think its burning software supports a wide enough range of CD/DVD drives.

So, my solution is to leave the disk out when I start the MEP burn routine. When MEP has finished the encoding stages (which it always does successfully unless I've made some sort of mistake) it then asks me to insert a disc. I don't do that, but instead hit Cancel and then Close.

I then go to the folder of DVD files described above and play the DVD from there to satisfy myself it's OK. Then finally I burn the folder to disc with the excellent ImgBurn (free).

I got it! I took the suggestion of trying a different brand of DVD! It worked! Memorex failed and verbatim worked!,,,I'm up and running and have burned 12 copies!

There have been several mixed reviews on Memorex discs (as well as several other brands) about reliability with particular recorders and disc quality.

IIRC I read a while ago that some manufacturers do not make the discs themselves and source them from other manufacturers.

The multiple sourcing can lead to a particular brand of disc using different dye types, the end result being you may buy a bulk pack which work perfectly and the next bulk pack of the same brand give problems.

To add to what Terry said about using the image recorder, I use rewriteable (DVD-RW) discs for burning my movies to DVD - once I am satisfied with the movie and I have a good copy on rewriteable disc I then create my permanent copies on DVD-R by copying the DVD-RW.

I also retain a DVD-R copy as a master should I need further copies in the future.

Once this is complete I can erase the rewriteable and use it again. Saves money and having to throw away dvd's because they are bad.
