Hi and welcome to the Magix Community,

Press on the spacebar to play.

You are probably in Storyboard mode which just shows an image of the video file. Swtch to Timeline mode to see the video horizontally to see the length) and to be able to edit it. There should be buttons to switch modes. For more information, read about this in the manual.

I can't see how to change from story board to timeline and I can't see any buttons that allow me to do it. I have used Moviemaker in the past, thought I would buy a good programme but now I have my doubts I did the right thing.

Click on the button shown in the screen shot below.

Did you press on the play button or on the space bar? Did you move the playback marker to the beginning first?

Did you look at the videos on the Magix site to see how to use the basic stuff? No? Then do so.

Did you look in the manual? Did you read the first part, probably called Quick Start, to understand how the program works? If you are not going to invest the time to learn how to use the program, then the program is useless.

Hi

Which version of Video Easy are you using?

Can you post a screenshot of what you do see on the Video Easy screen?

To switch between Storyboard and Timeline mode press the Tab key on the keyboard.

@ John CB - the icon pointed to in your post is the Import / add video button.

@John EB,

Thanks for jumping in and pointing out my mistake. I don't have the program and didn't notice anything else that looked like it would go to Timeline mode. Magix has managed to make Easy difficult for the complicated people, or something like that.

@Phyllis,

See this tutorial that may help you post a screen shot.

You have indicated that your Video Easy does not look like the one in my screen shot. I took it from the Magix site and it is the latest version. As John Baker indicated, you need to provide more information, including what steps, in detail, that you have taken to get videos onto the Storyboard and what you did to preview them in the program, and whether or not you placed the playback cursor at the beginning before pressing on the play button.
