problems using microphone recording voice

Thanks John, it's a pity I can't reply direct to you.

1st off let me say I have used Magix s/w for 8 years, Movie, Sound & Audio Cleaning as well as 6 different Sound Progs inc. Adobe, SoundForge, Sony, Wavelab 7 etc etc, this version of Magix is the only 1 with such problems.

OK my problem is 1 & 2. I have options to record using USB Mic driver only with a ZOOM H2 USB mic or as your Screenshot, Asio etc using my old Microsoft mic plugged in to PINK not RED (I tried the red input then got no sound with any option!), mic input on PC then export as Asio or Wave etc,as your screen shot of record dialogue is same as mine, but with Asio I get no sound when recording at all, with Wave 50%. So I see a wave moving up & down in the window far left for my voice using wave but nothing using Asio. You say the Recording dialogue red button is inactive, what's the point of it then? I thought it was to stop recording! I also use Magix Movie Edit Pro 17, when I use the old mic with it it works fine volume wise. Also I found if I use both mic's with any other s/w then import to my Magix arrangement the sound is as it should be but that defeats the object.

Your other screenshots- My Sound prefs is similar to yours except I use a 5 channel sound system not PC speakers so my default is that. All other 4 options say NO device connected. I should say I have also Music Maker 15 which works, although I never used the Asio option drivers, always Wave. Magix said Asio is preferable also I should get a soundcard, preferably not Creative Labs because lots of Magix users had had problems with them?  As I have Steinberg Wavelab 7, it came with the Zoom H2 USB mic I bought 2 weeks ago, that also gives no problems recording or exporting  with my 15 year old Microsoft also the quality of sound I find superior so today I decided to get a 30 day trial of Steinberg Sequel 3 to try although in it's reviews they say it doesn't  have functions like volume fade in & out, something I'm used to.

By the way I also contacted ASRock who are very helpful, the guy uses MagixMusicMaker & said it works fine with both onboard as you or Creative Labs cards. They are mailing me today the latest bios updates to see if that changes my situation.

So that's it for now, thanks for your help.

I have trouble recording via mic directly With MusicMaker 2013 pro.

If I export using Asio driver I hear nothing, if I export using Wave I get about half volume only.

BUT If I export the same sounds in Movie Edit Pro 17 everything is fine volume wise?

Also using MusicMaker is it possible to import an Arrangement with a Wave file previously recorded & saved, or visa versa?

I've tried the suggestion before, it makes no difference, maybe I need a soundcard but which one?

You can adjust volume in the track itself, and of corse whatever operating system you are using has volume controls that might need setting.  Wave files incoming or outgoing work fine in MM2013

THANKS..............BUT

I did all you suggest before....................not a bit of difference, Asio.....no sound at all.........wave, as I said 50% only, & yes the left & right soundbar is working but on playback?

Also the audio recording window has 2 buttons bottom right

1 = record works but the other

2 = red button always inoperative?

Shouldn't 2 function??

I did think of reinstalling MusicMaker but will then loose all my previous work?.

By the way using windows soundbar then importing file gives me full sound but that really defeats the object.

I have an ASRock Z68 & plugged in an i7 2600k. No independant soundcard, if you use a soundcard which 1 please will perform better than Realtek onboard?

If  you're worried about losing anything, create a separate folder and move yur stuff there.   I do have a soundcard and its a soundblaster X-fi.  On athe newer MOBOs there is some discussion as to whether a soundcard is necessary and my thinking is that a MOBO can't be all things.....it might be better than in the past, but soundcard manufacturers are in business to solely provide athe best sound and not everything else thrown inas an aftrthought.

Hi

The board has a Realtek sound chip and it may not be fully active, Select Control Panel, Sound and right click in the centre are of the Playback and Recording tabs and check the options shown in the images are selected, enable any disabled devices that appear.

There appears to be some confusion in your question - are you:

1.  having a problem recording from the microphone ie not getting sufficient volume ?

or

2.  having a problem with the exported audio containing the recorded microphone material which sounds OK in Music Maker ?

Does the microphone plug into the red audio socket or is it USB?

Can you post an image of the recording dialog with a second red button - the dialog should be this

As you see there is no second red button - these are also my driver settings for recording from a Realtek audio chipset.

John
