Movie clips are truncated when transferred to the timeline

jcannon2 wrote on 2/10/2016, 10:45 AM

I had been using MEP14+ for the last three years, worked great until I upgraded to Win10.  Then every time I added a video clip to the timeline, it would trim each one to less than a one second clip, even though the clip played fine in the preview window before I added it to the timeline.

So I upgraded to MEP16+ yesterday thinking that the new version would fix any incompatibility issues with Win10.  Wrong....  MEP16+ does the exact same thing.  Video clip plays perfectly in the preview window.  Then I drag it to the timeline, and boom - max I get on every clip is about 3-6 frames.  Most of these clips are 6-7 seconds, but get trimmed to 3 frames.  I can't resize it either way to expand the clip - the timeline only sees the complete clip as 3 frames.

By the way, I also have Cyberlink Power Director 14, and the same clips transfer perfectly to the timeline.  I really don't want to learn a new video editing program, but I may not have a choice.  If you can't fix this, I will have to get my money back and uninsall the program, which I don't want to do because I like the interface and I'm used to the program.

I am using the same system that ran MEP14+ perfectly under Windows 8.1 64-bit for years.

Hi

. . . . I upgraded to MEP16+ . . . .

Do you mean MEP 16+ - released in 2010 or MEP 2016+ ?

If MEP 16+ then this is not Windows 10 compatible, if MEP 2016 + then please use the full name to avoid confusion with the earlier version.

What is the source and format of the video you are importing?

What is the frame rate of the video and is it a fixed framerate?

You can use MediaInfo to analyse a video clip to get the last two items.

Sorry for the confusion - yes I upgraded from MEP2014+ to MEP2016+

Source is camera footage, in MP4 format.  1280x720, 29.97fps.  Frame rate is fixed.

Again, these same clips from same source worked perfectly for years with MEP2014+ and Windows8.1

Just updated to 15.0.0.90

Problem still persists

Still no response??????

I guess I will go ahead and return this for my money back.  Very disappointing.  I have been a long-time loyal Magix MEP user for over 5 years now, but I can't continue with something that is not functional and with no support.
