MEP2016 Titles rendering

AndyMo wrote on 11/16/2015, 9:25 PM

Suddenly MEP2016 is not exporting sequences with TITLES correctly.  It previews perfectly in the program, but when I export to an external file (doesn't matter what format) the screen goes mostly black for the duration of the TITLE and I can only see the TITLE (and parts of the video inside letters like P and D).

eg:

in MEP:

output file:

same output file, after title should have faded away:

any ideas ???

Hi

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification

  2. Windows version

  3. MEP version - see under Help, About . . .

  4. A screen shot of the timeline showing the title and the objects above / below

  5. Which Title did you select from the Titles tab

Hi John,

1 - Intel i5 CPU. 16Gb RAM

2 - Win7 64bit

3 - MEP2016 Pro Plus version 15.0.0.77 (UDP3)

4 - timeline screen shot attached, with another interesting example of the same issue at a different title (with a transition)

5 - For the first title , I just went to the TITLE tab and then clicked on the screen.  For the second title (the example in this post) i chose X-ROTATION and dragged it onto the screen.

preview monitor (scrubber at location in timeline view) :

resulting output:

thanks for any help

Hi AndyMo

I cannot replicate this problem, however I am guessing at what effects are applied to some of the video and title clips.

Can you post another screen shot of the timeline section as outlined in red below, and also what effects etc are applied to the clips numbered in image.

Are you using the Intel integrated GPU or do you have another graphics card?

Thanks

I have an NVidia GeForce 9500 GT with 2 displays

timeline shot

clip 1 only has an image position shift

clip 2 has no effects added

clip 3 (the title) has a position change

This problem is not exclusive to that section of the movie.  It comes up at varioius points throughout the movie.

  Here is another interesting one:

what we see in the preview:

the export result:

the export result if i MUTE THE TITLE.  Notice that you can faintly see the soldiers now (like brightness was only 5%)

 very odd.

Hi

. . . . NVidia GeForce 9500 GT . . . .

I think the issue may be due to having two graphics chipsets ie the integrated i5 (HD4600 ?) and the 9500 GT and  that the 9500 GT is not the default device for MEP's GPU acceleration.

See this article on how to fix this - adding in MEP into the list of software allowed to use the graphics card.

Thanks John.  I'm excited about the prospect, but the link in your message does not say how to fix it (he never solves the problem).

I did look at these types of settings on my PC:

- in my BIOS my primary GPU is set to the PCI-E card

- i made sure i have the latest NVIDIA drivers.

- in the NVIDIA control panel (and in MEP too) there are is only the option for the NVIDIA card, not the on-board GPU.

- unfortunately the drivers for my NVIDIA card do not have the utility that shows if MEP is using the NVIDIA GPU or not.

I'll keep trying stuff.  PLease let me know if you have any further ideas.

Hi John,

My onboard graphics is completely disabled.  It doesn't even show up in the device manager.  The problem does not seem to be specific to titles.

I Muted every track except the soldier video clip and it was still showing 95% faded.  So i then created a new project with the exact same soldier clip and it worked fine.  (so it is not the asset).

I put a ton of work putting all these clips together and it is disappointing that I can't export.  sigh.

I hope you have something else for me to try.  Thanks.

AndyMo wrote on 11/19/2015, 12:37 PM

I solved the soldier clip issue by moving the asset to a different track so it does a fade-in instead of a cross fade. It should work like that, but at least it is a work-around.

However the TITLE still goes all BLACK like in the original problem.

I noticed that the troublesome titles all use ANTI CROPPING ?

AndyMo wrote on 11/19/2015, 1:53 PM

Ignore that last comment.  It seems that EVERY new title that I add does the exact same thing.  Basically i can't use titles.

AndyMo wrote on 11/19/2015, 4:01 PM

re-installed MEP 2016 - same problem

re-installed MEP 2015 and opened exact same project - works perfectly.

THE PROBLEM IS MEP 2016.

I will be asking for a refund on MEP 2016.

Thanks for answering.

SOLVED

It took a long time to fix this.  I went back to MEP2015 for a while and then the problem would occur again (and not just with Titles.  Magix support tried but could not figure it out either.

Eventually figured out it was a Quicktime process that was not playing nicely with MEP.  I noticed it was getting hung and burning resouces.

A clean re-install of QUICKTIME and all has been running well for a few months now.

Just posting in case anyone else gets the same issue.
