MEP2013: Invisible track contents

terrypin wrote on 11/5/2012, 3:41 AM

This illustrates the bizarre behaviour sometimes displayed by MEP.

In MEP 2013 I re-opened a test project I'd made a while ago. It contains a JPG, an audio track and some text with effects. What I actually see is shown here:

Or for better quality: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/MEP2013-JPG-Video.jpg

And it plays as if the invisible tracks were present.

If I open it in MEP MX or 17 the other tracks are displayed correctly.

Unlike many similar issues, this one doesn't disappear if MEP 2013 is closed and re-opened. And playing with the S & M options on the various tracks 2 upwards makes no difference. It's as if all the tracks have been condensed into the first.

Hi Terry

I cannot reproduce this - in 2013 mine opens as in original created in MX whether the jpg and audio are grouped or not.

Can you give more detail on how you created the original please.

John

Hi John,

Thanks for trying but I had no expectation that this would be reproducible! I'd love to understand how it can happen though. If you find time I've used File > Backup copy > Copy project and media from the mystery 'one track' project in 2013 to make you a folder containing everything.

Here's the zipped folder: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/OneTrackPuzzle-John.zip

I'd be interested to know what happens when you and others try to run the project TextReveal-2-Abba.MVP

I originally made it in 2013 but I can now only display it in full in other versions. Here it is in MX:

Note that the final version was in the original thread at

I didn't expect the new patched version 12.0.2.2 to resolve this mystery, and it doesn't.

If anyone is curious enough to try it, I've backed it up with its media to here:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/InvisibleObjects-Abba.zip

It may be relevant that the result of that backup oddly gives the project an MVD extension instead of MVP.

But Opening TextReveal-1-Abba.MVD results in the same project as the original  - a single JPG playing music and text!
