Not that I have used these in a few years, but the visuals are gone from MEP MX. They are located under Design Elements in MEP 17. I cannot find them in MEP MX.
Ouch! I love that feature especially for making music videos. I have some DJ friends and when they go on a set break, they pop in the custom DVD's I made using their music source material then I just overlay the visuals.
Wow, I was really considering updating to Magix video pro premium MX but now I'm not sure. I have MEP16+. This feature regression troubles me. Its like what Apple did to Final Cut Pro X, removed a bunch of features in the new version.
If I were you, I would complain to support to get it reinstituted by popular demand. Magix was unique in that one feature I believe, I have used a lot of video editing software of many different name brands and the synced music visuals is a very neat eye candy feature in my opinion.
I think the reason nobody may miss it is because it wasn't very well documented feature. Not many people know MEP has had motion tracking for years but it does but its called magnetic objects under Magix nomenclature. There are lots of neat surprises under the hood if people care to really look. In closing, it really perturbs me Magix removed the visuals.
Simple copying over from 17 to the correct folder in MX does not get picked up. Also dropping visual from the the media pool only appears to give a black mask object.
This is really disappointing. Before buying MEP MX we downloaded a trial version of Video Pro X3 and built a short video using some of the *.vis effects. On the basis of this programs excellent performance we decided to go ahead and buy MEP MX Pro.
So, now I have a video full of fx that won't import into the new application. I think Magix really need to get this sorted and find a work-around or whatever that provides support for these fx. I imagine there are thousands of people out there who made use of them and now can run videos properly in the new software. It is a crazy thing to do.
The visuals have been dropped from the program. It was a conscious, conceptual decision by product management at this stage. Sorry. I suppose sometimes you just go to lose some dead weight. :-( The visuals were not exactly a popular function among a majority of users.
There is a problem with the re-opening of old projects containing these visuals. This is certainly not intended and we are aiming for project file compatibility between the different releases (unless we really can't help it due to fundamental technical changes in the program). So, this issue will be addressed. I have a hunch that once this has been done, you will be able to recycle and use your VIS files from the old installation. ;-)
