Magix Movie Edit Pro 2016 Plus, SLOW RENDER TIMES, NEED HELP!

chad_gway2 wrote on 3/29/2016, 6:05 AM

Hi, I'm having problems while rendering/exporting my finished project. I'm exporting the project as an MPEG 4, I tick hardware acceleration which would speed up the render times, however even when this option is ticked and i begin to render, the pop up render window says in brackets NO HARDWARE ACCELERATION.

I was rendering a 24 minute clip, at 1080p, 60 fps, 12000 bitrate. With 6 tracks being used, and only 2 tracks were used for the whole 24 minutes, the other 4 were used for about 10 seconds each throughout the video. And the render time was 3 hours, my problem here is, 3 hours for 24 minutes is crazy.

My old editing software took 30 minutes to render the same settings as above for an hour long project. I don't want to go back to using that software as it crashes on me continuously making me have to auto save every 2 minutes which is a pain.

I want to find out why hardware acceleration isn't working, and also maybe find out other ways which might help speed up the  render process.

I hope to have this problem solved soon as I need to upload videos to YouTube.

My Pc Specs listed below.

CPU -  i7-4770K

GPU - GTX 970

MOTHERBOARD - MSI Z87-G43-GAMING

RAM - 8GB DDR3 (1333 MHz)

SSD - Crucial M500 240GB SATA 6 GB/s

HDD - 1000GB HDD (NOT SURE OF SPEED)

PSU - 650W

OS - Windows 7 64 BIT

I know this is all pretty long, but i really enjoyed editing in Magix MEP 2016 and i wish to continue to use the software.

I have also done the latest update and sadly didn't fix anything.

Any help is appreciated thank you.

Hi thanks john,

Sadly this didnt fix the issue, as Preferred graphics processor wasnt showing under Global Settings tab. Has there been an update and this option has moved elsewhere?

Also i seen you asked the following question "Are you using the Default (Intel HD) or MainConcept codec and is it the same for both versions?" I dont think i have selected the MainConcept codec, could this be the problem?

Thanks for quick response.

Hi

. . . . . Has there been an update and this option has moved elsewhere? . . . . .

The NVidia control panel is part of the NVidia drivers for their graphics card, if you have this missing you should look on the NVidia forums.

If you are using the Intel HD codec - open MEP program settings (Y key) and look on the Import export tab - if the preferred codecs for import and export are set to Default then you are using the Intel HD codecs.

While on the same tab check if the two Hardware acceleration (HWA) options are checked.  If they are not check them.

Try exporting to MP4 again

If there is an issue with HWA MEP will pop up a message saying it has been turned off.  If so see the last paragraph below.

Note: in the MP4 export dialog box do not check the Calculate video effects on the GPU option - it can cause conflicts when Hardware acceleration is turned on.

Re the MainConcept codecs - they are not necessary unless you want some of the more advanced video setting options which you do need to know what you are doing in order to set these correctly.  The existing export presets are optimised for each scenario they represent.

Also I have an issue with the MC codecs - which was reported to Magix a while ago - in that with HWA turned on using the MC codecs I get zero byte, ie empty, files.

Of the two codecs the Intel is faster than the MainConcept, however it has fewer advanced options.

There is another way of checking to see if the GTX 970 is causing the issue and that is to pull the GTX card out of the computer and use the i7's integrated chipset and try exporting to MP4 again.

Hi, John.

Both HWA options were already ticked, so I tried to render without selecting the Calculate video effects on the GPU and only Hardware Acceleration ticked. I still have the same problem, so I removed the graphics card and did an export. But again still the same problem.

Could you possibly recommend what you would do to render at 1080p 60fps (bear in mind my render will be uploaded to YouTube)? So would you use pre made settings from the drop down menu, or put your preferred settings in?

I'm just thinking maybe i'm doing something wrong in the render settings, I know for YouTube videos the recommend upload for 60fps 1080p video is 12000 bitrate. However there are other settings which i don't know about, such as the Maximum GOP Length Option, HRD, CPB. Could these effect my render times? Because i'm only uploading to YouTube do i need any of these? I haven't changed anything on them so far because i don't know what they do.

Also if you think any other export formats could give me similar or better results, quicker then a MPEG-4 render, then please recommend me which one.

Thanks for the help again.

Did you still get the 'render window says in brackets NO HARDWARE ACCELERATION'  message during the render?

I am beginning to suspect that the render time is correct and  hardware acceleration is not possible for some reason.

What effects have been applied to the video on the timeline?

Can you post a screen shot of the timeline - please crop to show a section of the timeline only.

Youtube have their own recommended settings for mp4 here.

I have created specific presets for mp4 video for my website and avoid using Youtube.

Hi Chad,

Did you found an answer for this question?

I have the same issue. It´s so slow that I´m feeling I´m using my old Pentium Celeron ahaha
