Creating a DVD that can play on all devices including conventional DVD and Blue Ray players

I have Movie Edit Pro 2014 and I am having trouble burning my movie onto a DVD so that it can be played on a conventional DVD player or on Blue Ray.   When I create a DVD it only is playable on the PC I used to burn the DVD.  In the past I used to have an option to ensure the DVD is compatible with all devices, but I do not see that option anymore.
When I choose my Format options I am choosing “DVD” thinking it would play on all devises.  Is there something else I need to choose?  When I choose the Blue Ray option it does work on the Blue Ray device, but I also need it to work on the conventional DVD.
Any ideas?

Hi

. . . . Creating a DVD that can play on all devices including conventional DVD and Blue Ray players . . . .

Do you mean all devices that can take a DVD or BD disc?

. . . . In the past I used to have an option to ensure the DVD is compatible with all devices . . .  using which version of Movie Edit Pro ?

 . . . I am choosing “DVD” thinking it would play on all devises. . . .

Are you using the right preset for the players ie NTSC or PAL?

PAL discs will not play on a NTSC player and vice versa - unless you have a player that supports PAL and NTSC.

Which make / type of DVD discs are you using ?

Some brands, generally the cheap ones, are not always compatible with some players.

Thanks.  The key was knowing that I had to go into Advanced options and choose NTSC.  Tha should have been more obvious.
