Can't Get MEP 17 to Start

RigidRicardo wrote on 6/28/2011, 9:13 AM

After using the program more or less OK for 2 months, I have tried running the program today but have been getting a Windows system error ' MAGIX Video Deluxe has stopped working'. I've re-started my PC, closed all other programs to maximise memory, applied the latest bugfix/upgrade and but still can't get the program to run at all.

Anyone else had similar problems or can help identify the cause of this issue?

One thing you might try is to delete videodeluxe.ini and let the program recreate it. In my case, using MEP17+, it's located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MAGIX\Movie_Edit_Pro_17_Plus\videodeluxe.ini

It's not a trial version that has expired is it?

Hi

Terry's answer is for WIndows XP and assumes you installed MEP for all users to use, if you installed MEP as single user only then the location should be C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXXXX\Application Data\MAGIX\Movie_Edit_Pro_17_Plus\videodeluxe.ini where XXXXXXX = the username you log onto the computer as if you set one up.

if you are using WIndows 7 you will have to search using Windows Explorer for the videodeluxe.ini file ensuring you have hidden files and folders and View system protected files turned on, as the location of this file will depend on how you installed MEP.

Don't forget to uncheck the Hidden Files/Folders and System Protected files when you have finished.
