Hi All
I was wondering what preset / settings others have found in the File > export movie settings that would give the best quality ie. least pixellation and blurring when creating a file for uploading to YouTube or Vimeo?
My camera records AVCHD 1080p 50fps at 27Mbps and it is obvious that there will be noticeable degradation when compressing this to suit the recommended 5Mbps stream that YT and Vimeo recommend for 1080p HD.
Using the facility for direct upload from the Magix timeline via "Share> YT Vimeo,,,, > Upload current movie as a video" does not work very well as it creates a file with only a 3.5Mbps and very low Bits per pixel per frame count and there is no facility to change this data rate through that window.
So the only solution is to export a suitable file via the file export in MEP MX then use the Sharing sites file upload. After some experimentation I am not convinced I have found the optimum, so any suggestions as to a preset from the export file list and / or advanced encoder settings that have proven to help the quality would be appreciated.
Some ideas from my side are as follows:-
Keeping all parameters in the advanced encoder settings as close to the original camera data stream would seem to be a good idea. So - Mpeg4 H264 but 25fps ( these sites can not accept anything over 30fps) and keep the datarate to the maximum YT etc can handle (is there a maximum?).
Use the Flashplayer presets instead of the HDTV MPEG4 export because the video plays on these sites in Flashplayer?
However does YT re encode the file with its own settings? It seems to be doing this because the upload seems very slow. I get the feeling Vimeo may not be doing so, as the file size reported on the site appears to match the original before upload..... Or did it just like my file specs. better than YouTube.
Trying to upload in 1080p instead of 720p is a waste of time on YouTube because what you gain in resolution you lose due to greater compression to fit into the same limited datarate? Vimeo is limited to 720p and most HD videos look pretty good there.
Does a WMVHD file upload any cleaner?
Vimeo has a tutorial for export settings from Magix but it does not appear to be using a Flashplayer preset and besides, the site says it can only accept 44.1khz audio and yet the guy doing the tute leaves the audio encoder set on 48khz so i wonder if I can trust his settings!
I have tried searching Magix info for peoples experience on this issue but have not found a lot of tips so any ideas or references are welcome.
Thanks
Peter
